My touch pad on my laptop wont work? The cursor is frozen but it Works Perfectly fine in safe mode..?

I was just mindlessly playing on my laptop two days ago and it suddenly stopped working. I restarted it several times. I finally decided to try safe mode- and it works perfectly fine so I know its not the touch pad itself. What can I do? Anyone heard of this before? I found a discussion like this while googling for help and they had the same Dell Inspiron. Any help will be gladly welcome!

You could try shutting it down and when you start it up press F8 repeatedly until you get a screen with the option to boot to the Last Known Good Configuration. Try this first and see if it makes a difference…

These are musicians that could craft a song and carve out a hook, but dressed these tunes in very commercial productions — and, even though these came at the height of power pop, that commercial production made these artists seem lesser than the dogged new wave of such artists as Tommy Keane or even Cheap Trick. In retrospect, the artists that had shiny productions and big, unstoppable hooks were every bit as power pop as their scruffier cousins, and Donnie Iris is one of them. His records often have the trappings of album rock in the early ’80s, but the essence of his work is that of a geeky pop fan, turning out anthemic, melodic pop tunes, pumping them up with guitars filtered through Marshall amps. Sometimes, the end result was a little silly — the pounding “Love Is Like a Rock” is one of the goofiest songs ever recorded — but when it clicked, like on “Ah! Leah!,” it clicked perfectly, illustrating that the gap between true power popsters and the supposed charlatans was simply a matter of style. And 20th Century Masters does indeed capture Iris at his best, hitting all of his big, catchy pop tunes on one 12-track collection. A Thousand Kisses Deep $12.99 Chris Botti’s sixth album is a wonderfully, even perfectly crafted group of originals and covers that accent his deep crossover appeal as both a jazz and pop musician. Botti’s phrasing is very keen, uncanny in the way it works with simple rhythmic structures, and his tone is rich and warm. His use of keyboards and drum loops is pretty much up to the minute in terms of its hip factor, and his arrangements appeal to serious jazz fans and are something akin to blessed-out ecstasy to smooth jazz aficionados. Therein also lies the problem. Botti hasn’t significantly developed his sense of artifice since his debut album and, if anything, has delved deeper into its oh-so-cool bachelor pad faux elegance than ever on A Thousand Kisses Deep. The title track, a very moving song written by Leonard Cohen, is the finest moment on the disc. A spare guitar backdrop is adorned simply; Botti plays the melody in short, clipped staccato phrases for an entire full verse before the rhythm section enters. The effect is haunting, lushly romantic, and full of a sensual warmth that is as spooky as it is silky. The spare keyboards and brushed drums offer the song as something slightly Latin (thanks to the gorgeous guitar playing by Dean Parks). It could have been the love theme in Robert Rodriguez’s Once Upon a Time in Mexico — yes, it really does feel slightly mariachi! Burt Bacharach’s “The Look of Love,” despite a marvelous vocal by Chantal Kreviazuk, suffers from cute syndrome — as does “The Last Three Minutes,” another Bacharach tune. The straight pop stuff, such as “Ever Since We Met” with Bridget Benenate’s breathy vocals, work very well. Botti’s solo entwines the refrain and carries the singer’s voice along into the ether. A duet with pianist Billy Childs on “My Funny Valentine” feels a tad stilted, but there is great tension resolution in the third chorus. “If I Could,” another original, with the great Smokey Hormel on guitar in addition to Parks, is a true mood-setter…

The resulting Buena Vista Social Club album — aided by a documentary about the process — becomes a worldwide phenomenon, inspiring an unprecedented degree of interest not only in Cuban music, but international music of all kinds. A brilliant idea works out perfectly, right? Sure, except that this wasn’t actually the original plan. Initially, World Circuit Records’ producer Nick Gold had planned for Cooder and the Cubans to be joined by lute player Bassekou Kouyate and guitarist Djelimady Tounkara, two of Mali’s finest musicians. At the last minute, the Malians were unable to secure visas to travel to Cuba for the session, and the agenda was re-jiggered. Fast-forward 16 years into the future — the plans for that original Cuban/Malian crossover are finally realized with the recording of Afrocubism. And this time, not only are Kouyate and Tounkara on hand, interacting with an all-star cast of Cuban players like singer/guitarist Eliades Ochoa and percussionist Jorge Maturell, but there’s an additional batch of Mali’s finest, including renowned kora master Toumani Diabat? and innovative balafon player Lassana Diabat? (no relation to Toumani). But Afrocubism shouldn’t be viewed as some sort of alternative-universe version of Buena Vista Social Club — it has its own very singular sonic identity. The most immediately striking element is the way the tumbling riffs of the Malians — particularly Kouyate and both Diabat? s — seem to fall so naturally into the percolating Cuban polyrhythms underlined by Maturell and elaborated upon by Ochoa. Beethoven: Piano Concertos Nos. 1-5; Triple Concerto $18.99 Pianist Christian Zacharias and the Dresden Staatskapelle unequivocally prove that the Beethoven piano concertos need not be laden with romanticized notions such as excessive rubato, heavy pedaling, or forced dynamics. For Zacharias, simplicity is the key to his performance of the five concertos, and it’s an approach he pulls off masterfully. The interplay between soloist and orchestra is seamless; over the course of the five concertos, the two paint a clear picture of how changed the relationship between soloist and orchestra is in this genre. The orchestra’s vision of the music parallels Zacharias perfectly, with simplicity and cleanliness of sound being paramount. Tempo selection is also refreshingly logical. There’s no trace of outer movements being pushed too fast for the sake of virtuosity, nor the middle movements being held back in an artificial attempt to force emotionality. The second movement of the Fourth Concerto, for example, is the only middle movement in the piano concertos to be marked Andante rather than Adagio or Largo. Yet all too often, this movement is performed abysmally slow. Zacharias breaks that mold with a refined and insightful brisker tempo. The only thing EMI is missing in this collection is a more comprehensive set of liner notes; two small pages is not nearly enough to discuss the musical and historical significance of these works and both soloist and orchestra deserve some mention, as well.
